Madurai Kamaraj University Examination Pattern
The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) at Madurai Kamaraj University offers its courses in a semester system. Each paper is scored out of 100, with the external exam covering 75 marks and the internal assessment covering 25 marks.
Internal assessment includes two tests (10 marks), assignments (5 marks), seminars/group discussions (5 marks), and peer teaching (5 marks). The external exam lasts three hours and has three sections: 10 MCQs (10 marks), five short essay questions (35 marks), and three long essay questions out of five (30 marks).
For practical subjects, internal assessment is 40 marks, and the external practical exam is 60 marks, based on practical demonstration. To pass, students need at least 27 out of 75 in the external exam and an overall 40% marks. Attendance requirements must also be met, with some allowance as per university rules.
