Strong infrastructure and placements, but more hands-on learning is needed.
I chose this course due to my passion for coding, AI, and software development. The best aspects included an updated curriculum, industry electives in AI, Cybersecurity, and Cloud, strong placement support, and excellent labs. However, more hands-on projects and research opportunities would have improved learning. SRM hosted Aarush Tech Fest and Milan Cultural Fest, offering great exposure. The campus was vibrant, with a diverse crowd, good connectivity near Chennai, and strong extracurricular activities. Scholarships were merit-based, but fees were high. Overall, SRM balanced academics, student life, and placements well.
It is not worth the money because teaching is the worst here.
I chose this course because it has more scope. Teaching should be improved by tutors.
Only join this college if it is your last resort.
I chose Computer Science because that's what everyone said I could make the most money in. As for college, I applied to a bunch of colleges and SRM was the only one I got in. It was my last resort. Still one of my the biggest regret.
Overall 4 years in SRM was very good. I passed out with a good CGPA.
SRM campus life is one of the best as cultural activities are excellent. There are different clubs for all co-curricular activities like dance and music which are entertaining and develop our skills.
SRM offered top-notch infrastructure for CSE, including Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, smart labs for AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing, and a vast digital library with IEEE and Springer access. Hostels were well-maintained, with AC and non-AC options, but maintenance varied. Mess food was average, while canteens and food courts Domino's, Subways, and A2B offered better choices. The SRM Medical College Hospital provides 24/7 healthcare. Sports facilities were excellent, featuring a cricket ground, football field, basketball courts, a gym, and an indoor stadium. SRM ensured a well-rounded campus experience, balancing academics, sports, and student life effectively.
Wi-Fi is available in both classrooms and hostels everywhere around the college. The quality of food in the hostel is too good but it has too many dishes. The canteen food is very costly and the taste is also average. We have all facilities in our college.
The only decent thing about SRM is only the main campus (not sure about the other campuses). Classes in the University building are air conditioned but it is the only building with air conditioning as of now. The library is really good. with plenty of places to sit along with a vast variety of books. Only issue is that you might not always find a place to sit that has a plug point, in case you want to use your laptop. The Wi-Fi is available within the university and in the tech park buildings. The WiFi is fairly fast and gets the job done but a lot of sites are blocked. Apart from the Wi-Fi, you also have a Jionet@srm hotspot at multiple places across the campus that grants you 1.5GB of data per day. This is available to anyone who walks into the campus. You need an SRM net id and password that is required to sign into the Wi-Fi. The computer labs and mechanical labs are pretty good as well. The labs in the UB building have an intel i7's and 32gb of RAM. Tech park has an iMac lab that is accessible only to some people pursuing an iOS related course. Facilities for non-computer Science related fields are also pretty good. I have seen CNC machines and a lot of other heavy equipments being used in the mechanical section. We have a fabulous lab that offers 3D printing and other services for a small payment. I haven't personally used this but I have heard its fairly reliable.
The hostel is one of the best with food, Wi-Fi, and all the basic amenities. The food provided is also good with a variety every day. There is also a parking facility available. The only negative remark is the time for girls which is around 6:30 PM. Classes are also well-equipped for maximum academic outcomes of students.
